🇩🇿 Algeria buys about 500,000 tonnes of milling wheat

Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC purchased about 500,000 tonnes of milling wheat in an international tender that closed on September 15, according to European traders.

Traders said Romanian and Bulgarian wheat was expected to be the main supply focus, although northern EU wheat could also be competitive. There was also market talk that Russian wheat shipped via the Baltic could be supplied.

⚠️ The tender took place against a tighter Black Sea supply backdrop, with shipborne Russian and Ukrainian wheat exports heavily disrupted by recent attacks on ports and shipping.

French wheat has also been excluded from recent Algerian tenders amid political tensions between France and Algeria.

📊 In Algeria’s previous soft wheat tender on August 5, OAIC purchased up to 720,000 tonnes at around $289–290/tonne C&F.

🇯🇴 Jordan makes no purchase in 120,000-tonne feed barley tender

Jordan’s state grain buyer is believed to have made no purchase in its international tender for 120,000 tonnes of animal feed barley, according to European traders.

Jordan’s previous reported barley purchase on September 9 was for about 50,000 tonnes at $318.50/tonne C&F.

Traders said barley prices remain firm amid uncertainty over how long disruptions to Russian and Ukrainian Black Sea grain exports will continue following recent attacks on ports and shipping.
