Jordan bought feed barley at a sharp premium to July levels, while South Korean mills secured 100,000 tonnes of U.S. and Canadian milling wheat for early 2027 shipment.

🇯🇴 Jordan buys about 50,000 tonnes of feed barley

Jordan’s state grain buyer purchased about 50,000 tonnes of animal feed barley in an international tender, according to European traders.

📌 Key details:

  • Buyer: Jordan’s state grain buyer
  • Commodity: animal feed barley
  • Volume: about 50,000 tonnes
  • Seller: reportedly Bunge

  • Cofco: $324.00/tonne C&F
  • Soufflet: $329.00/tonne C&F

📅 Traders indicated that Jordan is expected to issue a new tender for 50,000–60,000 tonnes of feed barley, with price offers anticipated to close on September 16.

🚢 The new tender is expected to seek shipment in possible combinations during the full month of January 2027 and the full month of February 2027.

📈 Traders said the latest purchase reflected higher import costs after Russian and Ukrainian Black Sea seaborne exports were brought close to a standstill by continued attacks on ports and vessels, contributing to a rise in global grain prices.

For comparison, Jordan bought 60,000 tonnes of barley at $252.60/tonne C&F on July 8.
