🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia issues tender for 535,000 tonnes of wheat

Saudi Arabia’s General Food Security Authority (GFSA) issued a tender to purchase 535,000 tonnes of wheat, with delivery scheduled for November–December 2026.

🚢 Planned vessel allocation:

• Jeddah: 4 vessels
• Yanbu: 4 vessels
• Jazan: 1 vessel

A maximum of 240,000 tonnes is sought for both Jeddah and Yanbu, in 60,000-tonne consignments.

📅 Arrival periods for Jeddah and Yanbu:

• November 1–15
• November 15–30
• December 1–15

One additional 55,000-tonne consignment is sought for arrival in Jazan on December 1–15.

⚓ Traders said shipments are being directed to Red Sea ports only, avoiding current disruption risks in the Strait of Hormuz.

For cargoes originally destined for Jeddah or Yanbu, GFSA retains the right to redirect vessels to Dammam if Gulf conditions stabilize. In that case, the buyer would pay an additional $10/tonne premium to cover extra costs.

🌍 The tender comes amid severe disruption to Black Sea grain flows, with traders pointing to potential offers from a broad range of origins, including Germany, Poland and other EU Baltic suppliers, as well as possibly Australia.

Russian wheat could also be offered based on Baltic Sea shipment costs, while a later reopening of Black Sea routes could lower costs for sellers.
